TitletownTech, a tech hub and $25 million venture fund led by the Green Bay Packers and Microsoft, is investing in a Wisconsin-based agriculture company that creates an online marketplace for crowdsourcing seeds used in farming.
Terms of the fund’s investment in Viroqua-based SeedLinked were not disclosed, but TitletownTech typically writes checks between $100,000 and $1 million.
“SeedLinked combines accessible smartphone technology with innovative data analytics to create a tool anyone can use to track, share, and learn about regional seed and variety performance,” Nicolas Enjalbert, founder and CEO of SeedLinked, said in a statement. “Our partnership with TitletownTech allows us to accelerate our mission.”
Through their digital platform, farmers, gardeners and other growers can connect and share information with other growers, seed producers, suppliers and plant breeders to “build healthier and more resilient agro-ecosystems”, the company stated.
“SeedLinked’s pilot success demonstrates clear win-win-win potential for seed companies, growers, and the environment,” said Neil Mix, partner at TitletownTech. “We’re excited by the opportunity for the company to commercialize its products.”
In addition to the Packers and Microsoft, other investors backing the fund include Jerry Jacobs Jr., co-CEO of New York-based Delaware North and alternate governor for the Boston Bruins; Jeff Wilpon, partner of New York's Sterling Project Development and Sterling Equities and chief operating officer of the New York Mets; AmeriLux International; Milwaukee’s Robert W. Baird & Co.; Cornerstone Foundation of Northeastern Wisconsin; Dickman Ventures; Green Bay Packaging, N.E.W. Venture Foundry, Plexus, Schreiber, Schneider, Sartori Cheese, The Village Companies and Weyers Investments.
Last month, TitletownTech announced it invested in Quantum Radius, a startup developing faster video processing technology. The Denver startup also said it will move its headquarters to Green Bay later this year as a result of the funding.
