April Midwest Report: All of the Region’s Major Tech Fundings, M&As and IPOs this Month

While we’re primarily focused on Wisconsin's innovation economy, we also have our eyes on all of the startup and tech activity happening throughout the entire Midwest. Here are the major tech fundings, acquisitions, mergers, moves and IPOs that went down in the region in April. See all Midwest Reports here.

4/2: Chicago-based Fast Radius, a leading provider of comprehensive additive manufacturing solutions, raised a $48 million Series B from UPS, with participation from Drive Capital, Jump Capital, Skydeck and Hyde Park Venture Partners.

4/2: Ann Arbor-based Fifth Eye, a medical device software company, raised a $11.5 million Series A from Arboretum Ventures and Cultivation Capital.

4/3: Wichita, Kansas-based AgileHR, a provider of cloud-based talent management software, was acquired by PrismHR, a private equity-backed leading payroll, benefits and HR software provider. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

4/5: Indiana-based Intelligent Fiber Network, a commercial fiber broadband provider, raised approximately $13 million in funding from a variety of investors including Wabash Valley Power.

4/8: Chicago-based Avail, a startup helping independent landlords and tenants simplify the rental process, raised $2.5 million, with Cultivation Capital leading the round.

4/9: Louisville-based Appriss Holdings, a SaaS-based public safety provider of data and analytics solutions, received an investment from Santa Monica private equity firm Clearlake Capital Group. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

4/10: Chicago-based Syndigo, a customized content management system and portfolio company of middle-market private equity firm The Jordan Co., acquired Content Analytics, a San Francisco-based e-commerce content management software startup. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

4/10: Columbus-based Astute Inc, a provider of AI-driven customer engagement, digital self-service, and first-party consumer data management software, received an investment from Boston-based private equity firm Audax Private Equity. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

4/15: Chicago-based Hireology, a provider of recruitment CRM solutions, raised a $27 million Series D from Blue Cloud Ventures, with participation from Bain Capital Ventures, Baird Venture Partners and Silicon Valley Bank.

4/16: Kansas City-based BacklotCars, an online wholesale automotive marketplace, raised a $25 million Series B from Stripes Group, with participation from Origin Ventures, Pritzker Group VC, Rise of the Rest's Seed Fund, Royal Street Ventures, KCRise Fund and Chaifetz Group.

4/21: Columbus-based venture capital firm Drive Capital has raised $558 million for two funds, $307.2 million for a third core fund and $250.9 million for Drive Capital Overdrive Fund I.

4/22: Chicago-based venture capital firm MATH Venture Partners raised more than $44 million for its second fund, per an SEC filing. Math is led by GPs Dana Wright, Mark Achler and Troy Henikoff.

4/26: Pymouth, Michigan-based Rivian, a company developing autonomous electric vehicles, raised $500 million from Ford.

4/27: Chicago-based travel app TripScout raised a $2.1 million seed round. Corazon Capital led the round.

4/30: Indianapolis-based Viral Launch, a provider of software that helps brands sell on Amazon, raised a $7.3 million Series A led by Tenfore Holdings, with participation from Mentor's Fund and UpOver Ventures.
