Epicenter, which provides organizational leadership for Memphis' entrepreneurial ecosystem, is looking to give a boost to startups via the latest edition of its medtech business accelerator.

The organization has selected five medtech startups for its ZeroTo510 Accelerator. They are set for a 13-week program to assist in the progression from early stage innovation to being ready to be marketed via the 510(k) premarket clearance from the Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

"Participants receive intensive training in critical areas such as business planning, product development, navigating the FDA regulatory landscape, reimbursement and payment strategies, manufacturing, supply chain management, pitching, and fundraising," Epicenter said in a release.

Participation in the accelerator comes with capital as well, with each startup getting a $25,000 investment from Epicenter.

The 2024 ZeroTo510 Accelerator cohort includes:

  • Corami — Startup has a cardiac drug delivery platform that delivers therapeutics via the heart's outer layers.
  • MedTech Solutions — Startup based in Germantown and founded in 2023, with a medical device roster that looks to alleviate sacroiliac joint pain.
  • Motus — Startup's product converts manual wheelchairs into electric via a cost-effective conversion kit.
  • PopCheck Technologies — Based in Memphis, PopCheck's products are AI-enabled remote patient monitoring wearables to detect post-surgical complications like venous clots.
  • Qubee Medical — Founded in 2023 and based in Denver, Qubee's device focus is on a vascular access port for dialysis.

The ZeroTo510 accelerator experience caps off with Demo Day on Dec. 12, when the startups are scheduled to present their medtech in front of investors, business leaders, and ZeroTo510 alumni. Since 2021, startups that have participated in ZeroTo510 have collectively raised more than $65 million.

“Since our first cohort in 2012, ZeroTo510 has built a national reputation as a premier destination for early stage medtech companies to establish, develop, and commercialize their products,” Olaf Schulz, director of venture development and Zeroto510 at Epicenter, said in a news release. “This is a truly exciting group of diverse and innovative leaders working on some really promising projects. We’re thrilled to be able to support their current work and future successes.”
