Osceola-based Envirotech Vehicles Inc. has reached an agreement with a regional independent FedEx Ground contractor to undertake a 90-day pilot program.

Envirotech, which builds electric Class 3, 4, 5, and 6 vehicles, will provide four electric vans to Fort Smith, Arkansas-based Crossno Corp., an independent contractor for FedEx Ground that picks up and delivers packages.

Crossno Corp. has operations in Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. The company has been in operation since 2007. It employs over 200 workers, according to its website.

“We are proud to bring Crossno Corp. into our customer network,” said Phillip Oldridge, CEO of Envirotech Vehicles, in a news release. “Under the FedEx brand, Clint Crossno and his team have developed a strong reputation over the last 16 years for safe and efficient [pickup and delivery] and line haul operations, consistently growing their enterprise across the Mid-South and into North and Central Texas. We are excited to support Crossno Corp. as they embark on their electrification journey by providing them with a fleet of four of our all-electric logistics vans.”

Envirotech moved its HQ from California to Osceola in 2022. It is currently building up its Osceola operations, but has had some delays as it competes for materials with U.S. Steel’s $3 billion Big River Steel as well as Ford Motor Co.'s $5.6 billion BlueOval City in West Tennessee.

Envirotech expects to hit full production at the facility in 2025, but was originally targeting this year. The company also launched an all-electric school bus and is planning a manufacturing facility in the Philippines.
