With its new production facility now operational, a Memphis water purification firm has secured millions in financial backing.
On March 22, Glanris announced it raised $2 million in a Series A round of funding for its patented 901x water filtration media, according to a release. Investors included: Riceland, Pittco Capital, Innova, and Sage.
Glanris said this brings total investments to $2.8 million. The company also announced the opening of a new 60,000-square-foot production facility in Olive Branch, where Glanris plans to produce up to three tons of Glanris 901x media per day using its patented rice hull technique.
Bryan Eagle, Glanris CEO, said the company started production setup in Olive Branch on Feb. 8 and went into full production on March 9.
Glanris was established in 2018 by Eagle and long-time water industry expert Tom Volinchak, who is the cofounder and VP of sales and marketing for Glanris. Eagle, a seasoned entrepreneur, ran Memphis Ventures — a consulting and investment company — prior to Glanris.
Meanwhile, Volinchak has over 30 years of experience in the design, sales, service, implementation, and troubleshooting of water and wastewater technologies, along with extensive experience in water purification.
In addition, L. Yu Lin, a professor at Christian Brothers University, is also listed on the company's website as a cofounder and advisor for Glanris. Lin has taught environmental and water resources engineering courses at CBU since 1990.
Glanris is being promoted as having the world’s first sustainable, hybrid filtration media that filters both organics and metals. The company also has a lab and pilot facility at 3955 Vantech Drive in Memphis.
The company cleans water for both use and reuse in industrial, municipal, and residential applications. Glanris currently works with a variety of industrial customers, from HVAC manufacturers to automobile makers.
Glanris has eight employees (five full-time and three part-time) and three contractors.
