Amplify Louisville is taking ownership of Venture Connectors.

The entrepreneurial support organization announced the transition in a news release Wednesday. Venture Connectors is longstanding nonprofit that hosts monthly events connecting area entrepreneurs and investors.

This strategic move marks a significant milestone in Amplify Louisville's mission to catalyze the growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, the release said.

Founded 1995, Venture Connectors has been a beacon for entrepreneurs seeking connections, providing a platform for networking, mentorship and collaboration within the startup landscape. With a legacy of nurturing countless success stories, the organization has played a pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of aspiring entrepreneurs, the release said.

“During my over decade-long journey with Venture Connectors from committee member to board chair, I've witnessed firsthand the transformative power of a welcoming and supportive startup community," said Larry Horn, CEO, Amplify Louisville, in the release. "Venture Connectors was not just an organization; it was a gateway to opportunities, ideas and invaluable collisions of activities. As we transition to Amplify, I am deeply honored to lead this evolution. Amplify isn't just a new name — it represents our continued commitment to elevating and expanding the support we provide to entrepreneurs and innovators.”

Amplify Louisville and Venture Connectors leadership saw an opportunity to enhance and expand the impact of both organizations by assuming the membership program, which aligns with Amplify’s strategic vision of creating a more interconnected and supportive environment for entrepreneurs, ensuring that they have access to the resources and connections needed to thrive, the release continued.

Amplify Louisville, also a nonprofit, reported revenues of $1.07 million, according to its 2022 Form D tax filing. It had about $107,000 in net assets, the filing shows.

The release outlined four key benefits of the transition:

  • Enriched networking opportunities: Members of both organizations will now benefit from an extended network of mentors, investors and fellow entrepreneurs, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.
  • Comprehensive resources: The merger brings together a diverse range of resources, including workshops, events, and educational programs, to provide entrepreneurs with a holistic support system for their ventures.
  • Streamlined access to venture: By combining the strengths of both organizations, Amplify Louisville aims to streamline the process for startups to connect with potential investors, accelerating the fundraising journey.
  • Continued legacy: Amplify Louisville is committed to preserving and building upon the legacy of Venture Connectors, ensuring that its longstanding commitment to fostering entrepreneurial connections remains a cornerstone of the merged entity.

“The Venture Connectors board of directors is proud of the collaborative integration with Amplify Louisville," said Ben Smock, president, Venture Connectors. "We believe it will carry forward the longstanding spirit of Venture Connectors and create a lasting, positive impact in Louisville’s entrepreneurial community.”

Venture Connectors will host its next monthly luncheon Jan. 10 at the Louisville Science Center. The event will feature Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg, who will join Bryce Butler, founder and managing director of Access Ventures, for a fireside chat.
