A group that has acquired three tech companies from Louisville in the last two years has recently gone down Interstate 65 for a deal.

On Oct. 19, it was announced that Bluewave Technology Group — an advisory and tech solutions sourcing entity — acquired Resource Communication Group (RCG), based out of Franklin, Tennessee, located south of downtown Nashville. The terms of the deal were undisclosed. It marks the fifth acquisition this year, but the first in the Nashville metro area, per a news release.

RCG specializes in providing clients “telecom lifecycle management services,” according to the release, with half of its clients having been with the company for more than 15 years. RCG made it to the lauded Inc. 5000 list in 2019 due to its high growth percentages.

“Now, being part of Bluewave is a significant step in our commitment to enhancing client-centric technology advisory services,” Kara Rickvalsky, RCG partner and owner, said in the release. “[We] are passionate about extending specialized support to IT teams. Bluewave shares our belief that clients benefit from collaborative partnerships in developing and managing solutions to achieve defined outcomes. We are excited to unite with Bluewave, offering our clients and team members enhanced opportunities within a nationwide, growing organization.”

Based out of Parsippany, New Jersey, Bluewave has been on an acquisition streak of sorts since February 2022 when it received a $75 million influx of capital from Virginia-based Columbia Capital.

“This strategic integration reinforces our position as a leading technology advisory and sourcing company and enhances our ability to provide clients with top-tier technology lifecycle management services,” said Bluewave Founder and CEO Seth Penland in the release. “We look forward to combining our expertise and resources to provide excellent service to our clients and help them achieve their technology goals and measurable business outcomes."

Bluewave aquired Louisville-based Virtual Telecomm in the fall of 2022, followed by Single Point Communications Group in February and, most recently, JIL Communications, Inc. in September.

Coincidentally, Nic Jones — the vice president of alliance partnerships and indirect channel — will be giving a presentation about Bluewave’s acquisition strategy at the next Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Kentucky luncheon on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the Baird Conference Center.

Jones is the former president of SinglePoint Solutions, a position he held from 2019 to the 2023 acquisition.

At the time of the SinglePoint merger, Bluewave had approximately 140 employees and more than 6,000 clients, placing it as one of the top three or four largest technology groups in its field. With each passing acquisition, those numbers continue to ascend.
