A Louisville-based company specializing in managed technology services recently announced the launch of a cybersecurity-as-a-service product.

Lang Co.'s platform provides protection from businesses from daily cyber attacks through a combination of offerings including firewalls, phishing prevention, dark web monitoring, antivirus software and data backup, according to a news release.

Other features include unified threat management protection, a risk summary report, a network analysis and scoreboard, an asset detail report used for cataloging activity at particular workstations, servers and devices, and a dark web report to determine what emails and passwords of employees have been compromised.

“Cyber attacks are on the minds of every owner and unfortunately most small to mid-sized business (SMBs) are extremely vulnerable,” Lang Co. President Tom Welter said in the release. “This vulnerability could put many of them out of business if nothing is done. We created our cybersecurity-as-a-service program to cost effectively provide enterprise level protection to our region’s SMBs.”

As we reported back in 2021, Lang Co. originally offered traditional office products, such as copiers and printers, before expanding to digital products such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone systems, document management software and IT managed services. At the time, the company, located at 540 S. 13th St., had a headcount of 60.

Back then, Welter reported that the sales of VoIP phones grew by 200% from the year before — a result of more people working remotely due to the Covid pandemic.

“Technology has accelerated so much more beyond what it was when I began with the company,” Welter said at the time, reflecting on the 75th anniversary of the company. “Back when I was first starting, half of our warehouse was just paper. We don’t hardly sell any paper anymore but a few reams.

"There’s an increased focus now on service and helping people use technology to be more productive in the office. Probably the biggest thing is the pace of change in technology.”

Lang Co. has since shifted to a “full-service technology company,” according to its website.

I have reached out to Lang Co. for more information. This story could be updated.
