Louisville-based Republic Bank has a new member of its board of directors after Vidya Ravichandran was named to the position Monday, according to a news release.

Ravichandran is well known in the local entrepreneurial ecosystem as the founder and CEO of GlowTouch, LLC, a Louisville-based technology outsourcing services company.

“Vidya is an innovative thinker and global leader whose knowledge in technology, cyber security, and management adds tremendous strength to our operations,” said Steve Trager, executive chair and CEO of Republic Bancorp, in the release. “I’m excited to see how her contributions can help us serve our customers and communities in new ways.”

“Part of our mission at GlowTouch is to make a positive impact on the communities in which we reside,” Ravichandran also said in the release. “Serving on Republic’s Boards is an opportunity for me to continue making a positive impact in Louisville and all of the communities Republic serves.”

Founded in 2002 with a team of three, GlowTouch now has more than 3,000 employees located in the U.S., India, the Philippines and the Dominican Republic. When we last spoke with Ravichandran in February 2022, GlowTouch had approximately 2,500 employees.

“We can’t hire people fast enough,” she said at the time. “The growth is coming pretty rapidly, and that is one of the reasons we're expanding into other markets in the U.S. You don't want to hit a saturation point at any one geography — you want to be able to access talent in different areas. We're going to the larger hubs where the talent pool is more abundant.”

In 2013, Ravichandran — who was named as one of our Most Admired CEOs in 2022 — founded StemWizard, a cloud-enabled software platform that affords to users the ability to run STEM competitions, such as robotics events and science fairs.

Ravichandran is a former member of the Kentucky Council for Postsecondary Education Board. She also has been involved with C200, a nonprofit organization geared toward promoting the efforts of current and future female entrepreneurs and corporate leaders, since 2020.

Republic Bank (Nasdaq: RBCAA) has the fifth largest market share in the Louisville metro area at 8.12% with $3.52 billion in total deposits as of June 2022.
