The Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame paid tribute to four more local founders as “Emerging Entrepreneurs” at its annual induction ceremony and dinner last night at the Louisville Marriott Downtown.
Emerging entrepreneurs included:
- Jose Gaztambide, CEO of GoodMaps
- Sam Razor, founder of Hippo Manager Veterinary Software, Inc.
- Kirsten Moorefield, co-founder and COO of Cloverleaf
- Darrin Murriner, co-founder and CEO of Cloverleaf
Louisville-based GoodMaps — as we first reported back in August — closed on $3.5 million in fresh capital following a successful seed round, led by Strike Ventures, with assistance by Keyhorse Capital, Future Labs Capital and the American Printing House for the Blind.
The company was founded by APH in 2019 under the name Access Explorer. Named one of KY Inno’s Startups to Watch in 2022, the company uses technology in which mobile scanners capture LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) point clouds and images, which then convert into digital maps of interiors of buildings. Rhe LiDAR technology, paired with the GoodMaps Explore app, allows blind and visually impaired users the ability to navigate to destinations located both inside and outside of buildings.
Hippo Manager Veterinary Software, Inc. is based out of Lexington, Kentucky. The company, which Razor founded in 2015, runs on in-house, cloud-based veterinary management software that offers users built-in reminders, inventory support, lab integration, patient scheduling, cash-flow analysis tables and practice performance reports. The company advanced to the second round of our Inno Madness event back in March.
Cloverleaf, an automated coaching platform for workers and teams, was originally founded in Covington, Kentucky, in 2018. The company, which closed a $9 Million Series A in 2021, recently moved its headquarters to downtown Cincinnati.
The Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame inducted several new members as well, including J.D. Nichols, chairman of NTS Development Company; James S. “Chip” Mahan, CEO and chairman of Live Oak Bancshares; Michael B. Mounjoy, founding partner of MCM CPAs and Advisors; and Lois Howard Gray, co-founder of Gray Construction.
In addition, the organization also named Jackson Andrews, the managing director Endeavor Louisville, as Mentor of the Year; William H. "Bill" Lomicka, the chairman of Coulter Ridge Capital and general partner of The Yearling Fund, as Investor of the Year; and Spencer Coates, president at Houchens Industries, Inc., as Executive of the Year.
