How local software development firm Level 12 plans to nearly double its revenue

What was an organic evolution turned into a key catalyst for growth for a local company.

Over the years, team members at Level 12 — a custom software development firm with roots in Southern Indiana — had both found themselves in Salesforce-driven solutions for clients and asked by clients to take on additional Salesforce-related projects.

“We felt that that could be a real wheelhouse and hold a lot of potential for the future of the business,” said Josh Neisler, Level 12’s director of growth, who has been with the company since July. “We felt like it would be a great fit for our organization and a great direction to go to grow our business overall.”

In response to this growth potential as an enhancement to its other software development services, Level 12 started a new division of the company called Pylons Cloud Innovations in late 2021.

Pylons offers a number of services, such as two-to-three-week-long evaluations, to determine a company’s Salesforce customization and integration opportunities, the implementation of the Sales Cloud customer relationship management platform and day-to-day administration as a service.

When Level 12 had reached the 'a-ha' moment about building a Salesforce-centric separate consultancy, the company lacked employees with significant Salesforce training.

To address that issue, Level 12 built out of a team of eight people of both external candidates with a significant level of collective Salesforce expertise and internal employees who went through the official Salesforce training program.

The company anticipates its revenues will be in the ballpark of $2.5 million to $3 million this year. Heading into next year, Neisler said it aspires to add $1 million to $2 million in revenue growth through Pylons — as it looks to be a “one-stop shop” for its clients and bolster both brands.

“We're at the very beginning of this,” he said. “We've put a lot of resources into building out a team of experts. We brought people on board who really have long-standing experience in the Salesforce ecosystem that extends much further than Pylons as an entity.”

Level 12 began in 2011 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. The company is completely remote, yet nearly half of its 20-plus workers reside in the Louisville area. Its clients primarily are within the manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, financial services and non-profit industries.

Although its clients are based throughout the country, Level 12 has placed its focus on the markets of Louisville, Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Nashville.
