Climavision has hired a new director of product success.

Elizabeth Wilson is joining the Louisville-based weather-tech company in the role, where she will be responsible for ensuring the growth of Climavision’s product suite, which is powered by a nationwide proprietary sensing network that produces the highest resolution radar data and cutting-edge prediction modeling, to provide a view of weather conditions like never before, according to a news release.

“We are thrilled to have Elizabeth join our team, as her broad experience makes her uniquely qualified to lead our product teams,” said Climavision co-founder and CEO Chris Goode, in the release. “She’s worked with many of the key product innovators in the industry, and we are excited to have her bring that expertise to Climavision.”

Before joining Climavision, Wilson was the director of weather programs at Synoptic Data PBC, a geophysical data aggregation company. There, she oversaw business development relationships from academia, industry, and government regarding use of meteorological data as well as management of the company’s National Mesonet Program with NOAA.

Prior to her tenure at Synoptic Data PBC, Wilson was a senior atmospheric scientist during the development and deployment of a state-of-the-art Global NWP System at Panasonic Weather Solutions, where she led a team in developing flight optimization and fuel savings programs used by major airlines and aerospace companies. Additionally, she managed customer relationships and business development for both domestic and international industry and government partners.

Wilson also previously served as a graduate research assistant at North Carolina State University where she researched wavelet analysis to discover peak frequencies in nocturnal low-level jet wind data. Prior to that, she was a research assistant at the North Carolina State Climate Office, where she worked on projects involving Mesonet, ASOS and ECONet data aggregation for weather and climatological events that impacted agriculture and businesses in North Carolina.

“I am extremely excited to join such a ground-breaking weather technology company,” Wilson said. “To be part of an organization that is entirely changing the way we look at weather and to have an impact on businesses and individuals’ lives through my work with our products is an opportunity I could not pass up. I can’t wait to use my background and expertise to assist in the creation of such revolutionary product offerings.”

Wilson received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in atmospheric science from North Carolina State University. She also has her Project Management Professional certification, and is a member of the American Meteorological Society, among other professional organizations.

Climavision, which launched with a $100 million investment in 2021, is leveraging high-resolution radar and satellite networks to fill existing coverage gaps. It recently partnered with its first news station, WBTV in Charolette, North Carolina, the first instance of its radar-as-a-service model.
