KY Inno is looking for nominations for its inaugural bracket challenge.

Inno Madness is designed to generate awareness and excitement for Kentucky's entrepreneurial ecosystem — and those that are driving it forward.

So, how does it work? It's easy. Nominate a startup based in Kentucky or Southern Indiana. We’re looking for private, tech-enabled businesses or companies that support innovation. The Inno team will then assemble brackets based on your nominations.

We’ll reveal the Inno Madness bracket in March, and companies will go head-to-head throughout six rounds with you, our readers, voting to determine who moves on from every matchup. Every week, we’ll post the updated bracket and voting will begin again. We’ll announce our Inno Madness winner at the end.

Here's what to consider:

  • Has the company raised any funding?
  • In one sentence, why would you invest in this company (i.e., an interesting concept or product, social impact, long-term potential, etc.)?
  • What else do you want to share about the company you are nominating?

Nominations can be submitted here. The deadline for nominations is Sunday, Feb. 6.

Speaking of supporting Kentucky's ecosystem, you have just over two weeks to register for KY Inno's Startups to Watch event on Feb. 1 at Noble Funk Brewery in Louisville.

We'll be recognizing 22 early-stage companies that you should keep an eye on in 2022. Plus, I'm moderating a panel discussion with Chris Goode, CEO and co-founder of Climavision, Julia Regan, CEO and co-founder of RxLightning Inc., Raechele Smalls, manager of entrepreneurship selection and growth at Endeavor (KY, OH, IN), and Matthew Gosnell, vice president of development at AppHarvest.
