A recently-exited startup founder has joined the C-suite of another local early-stage company.

Alex Reed, co-founder and former chief marketing officer of Truman's, has joined Vsimple as chief commercial officer. As I previously reported, Truman's, a direct-to-consumer cleaning products company, sold its intellectual property to an undisclosed buyer for an undisclosed amount earlier this year.

Vsimple, a New Albany-based company founded in late 2020, has developed a business-to-business, software-as-a-service (SaaS) technology platform designed to simplify workflow communication between manufacturers, distributers and their customers. The platform launched commercially in April, and the startup has been adding to its team as demand increases.

In June, Vsimple CEO and co-founder Buddy Bockweg told me the company has grown exponentially since the launch of its technology this spring. At the time, Reed had just started as a strategic adviser for Vsimple alongside Ric Sinclair, chief commercial officer at Waystar.

Reed's advisory role recently transitioned into the full-time, executive role with Vsimple.

"First and foremost, Alex is a wonderful person who happens to have an amazing track record of success, not only in sales and marketing positions at all levels, but also in building companies operationally, culturally and financially," Bockweg said in a statement. "As he comes into the Vsimple family and onto the executive team, I look forward to him adding tremendous value throughout our organization.

"Together we'll work to build a culture of service, success and celebration as well as an enormously valuable company for our employees, our customers, our community, our founders and our investors."

Prior to co-founding Truman's, Reed spent the first decade of his career helping to grow and ultimately sell Lexington, Kentucky-based Big Ass Fans. Previously, he said he was drawn to Vsimple for its combination of high-caliber talent, an innovative product and clear market opportunity.

"Buddy Bockweg and the Vsimple team have an amazing vision and a passion for serving others," Reed said. "I'm incredibly humbled and excited by the opportunity to help this already fast-growing company continue to build and scale right here in Kentuckiana."
