Louisville-based SuperFan Inc. has been sold

Louisville-based SuperFan Inc. has been acquired by PrestoSports, an all-in-one sports technology platform in college athletics out of Gilbert, Arizona.

The financial terms of the deal are not being released. SuperFan’s founders and all employees will continue with the new company keeping operations Louisville and will be called SuperFan powered by PrestoSports.

SuperFan Inc. provides services for mobile fan engagement including marketing, fundraising and ticketing for athletic programs. PrestoSports provides collegiate and high school streaming, website, social graphics, and stats technology. SuperFan, Inc. (formerly known as SuperFanU) has developed a mobile fan engagement platform that offers rewards and incentivizes fan participation.

"Athletics programs are seeking new ways to engage their fans," Keith Womack, president of PrestoSports, said in a news release. "As we continue to expand our all-inclusive solutions for athletics programs, our integration with SuperFan, Inc. gives athletic programs the tools to effectively engage their alumni and fans wherever they are, whenever they want to engage, on the digital channel they prefer.”

While the SuperFan Inc. suite of software and programs is changing the way schools engage with their fans, the results have also delivered returns for these programs. Harvard University’s athletic and marketing departments executed a CrimZone Rewards program using SuperFan Inc.’s mobile app that resulted in increased attendance between 250%-1000% for events like women’s rugby, softball and baseball, the release said.

“We saw an opportunity for schools and teams to better interact with their fans beyond just pushing out notifications,” explains co-founder Kayla Mount, who founded SuperFan, Inc. with fellow sports fan, Chris Nowak. “Now our users, host fundraisers, sell tickets and merchandise, integrate and activate sponsors on a platform that their fans are already comfortable with.”

Over time, the University realized average additional revenue of nearly $20,000 a week.

PrestoSports is a software-as-a-service company providing technology to colleges and conference offices. It serves more than 1,600 athletic programs and 100 conferences.
