What is your best piece of advice for first-time founders?
First, if your goal is to build a large enterprise, do not do it alone.
There is simply too much work to be done daily for one person to manage successfully. Find others who are great and enjoy doing the things you may struggle with or, quite frankly, suck the energy out of you. It is going to be way harder and it is going to take way longer than anticipated, so surround yourself with amazing people you enjoy and challenge you to be better.
Remember, the reward is not the end, it's the journey.
What (or who) has been the biggest contributor to your success?
First, my grandad, Robert Walker. He was like a father to me growing up, which was something I needed. He was wise. He was calm. He was consistent.
He taught me things about life/business, which I carry to this day. The things he showed me and taught me are very much the reason I am the man I am — and part of the backbone of our business today, so he gets a lot of the credit.
Second, my wife, Taylor. She gave me the courage, the support and the strength to step into the entrepreneurial world. Without her love and encouragement, I may have never taken the leap. She has sacrificed tremendously over the past 3-plus years and continues to do so as we continue building a world-changing company. I am forever grateful.
Last, but certainly not least, my faith. It has shaped me, molded me and given me, as well as our company, a WHY much bigger than money.
