Feedcoyote has only called Kentucky home for a little over six months, but it's already making waves in the commonwealth's tech ecosystem.
The Paducah, Kentucky-based startup, which offers a collaboration platform for freelancers, is the champion of the second annual KY Inno Madness competition. Voting for the final round of the fun, bracket-style challenge ended Sunday, with Feedcoyote winning 67% of the votes over Farmers Plus. More than 1,700 people voted in the final round.
As KY Inno lead Stephen P. Schmidt previously reported, Feedcoyote and its founder Stevens Bonhomme moved to Paducah from Seattle last fall, after being named as one of the winners of 1ST50K competition, hosted by Sprocket.
In December, Bonhomme told Schmidt the connectivity he experienced thus far in the commonwealth has been a welcome change from the massive tech hub that is Seattle, where he worked for Microsoft as a program manager.
“It’s easier to meet somebody on the street here and talk to them,” Bonhomme said. “People around here seem to be very welcoming, so I guess that also speaks to how tight the community is here.”
Through 1ST50K and a matching investment from Keyhorse Capital, Feedcoyote had raised $100,000 at the time of our previous coverage. Bonhomme said the company was launching a seed round, seeking $3 million.
Bonhomme said the money raised in the seed round would primarily go toward ramping up the company’s sales and marketing efforts to drive up the number of users.
Recently, Feedcoyote announced it was selected for Techstars Atlanta's spring 2023 cohort. We'll be checking in with Bonhomme about the company's growth, so keep an eye out for a follow up story in the coming weeks.
Thank you all for participating in the KY Inno Madness fun! It'll return next spring with another group of 32 companies.
