How did you get into the career you have today? I’ve always been a numbers person and my favorite subject in school was math, yet I also am very creative and grew up painting, drawing, and got into photography at a young age. I found that marketing and advertising was the perfect mix of creative and analytical for me. After a few weeks at Untitled Firm, I was blown away at how crucial it is to utilize data to drive and inform decision making, particularly in marketing campaigns.

What’s one thing Louisville can do to improve its tech and/or startup ecosystem? Because of Covid-19, networking was obviously put on hold. I love Creative Mornings, and I think having something similar but more tech focused could be incredibly beneficial to bounce ideas off each other, make connections, and form new partnerships. Untitled is actually working on hosting happy hours and fun, laid back events like this at our new HQ.

Who has been one of your top mentors? Why? I have many incredible mentors at Untitled, including Kramer Caswell, Katie Paas, and Ellen Stubbs, just to name a few. Outside of work, however, I have to say my brother Spencer Swift. Spencer is incredibly driven and hardworking (a CFO at 26!) yet I think the trait that has gotten him to where he is today is his personability. He inspires me to keep people my priority and to always go the extra mile. He is my go-to for any important decision I have to make, and his logical advice balances out my dreamist nature. We are both creative and have entrepreneurial spirits, so we’re constantly dreaming up a new project to work on, and it’s not uncommon for me to get the text, “I have an idea I want to run past you. Can I call you at lunch?” I’m sure one day we’ll finally follow through with one of our ideas and make great business partners.

What’s your best piece of advice for companies and individuals looking to be more innovative and disruptive in their fields? The best piece of advice that I have heard and learned over and over from entrepreneurs is to start before you’re ready. You are never going to feel fully ready or prepared and therefore you’ll never start. Oftentimes, your only limit is yourself.

What accomplishment are you most proud of? Sounds cheesy, but working at Untitled is definitely my greatest professional accomplishment. I feel truly honored to work with such intelligent and innovative people and truly believe we’re just getting started. It’s also amazing to look back and see how far I’ve come as a person and in my skill set since starting here.

What innovative company (other than your own) do you admire and why? It’s not local, but I absolutely love Klaviyo, an email marketing platform founded in 2012. It provides such powerful customer data segmentation tools and insights and I think every e-commerce company should be using it! They are always working to provide new capabilities and integrations.
