Impulse Space receives $45 million in funding for space logistics



Space transportation developer Impulse Space Inc. has secured another round of funding.

Based in Redondo Beach, Impulse Space received $45 million in its Series A funding round led by Raytheon Technologies’ RTX Ventures.

With the funding, Impulse Space will continue its progress on its upcoming missions, including its first orbital mission LEO Express-1 with SpaceX, a refueling mission for geosynchronous Earth orbit (GEO) and a mission to Mars.

The funding will also support the development of Impulse’s largest vehicle, Helios. Helios’ kick stage will enable direct to geostationary equatorial orbit missions.

The company is also working with space habitation company Vast Haven, which selected Impulse Space to provide the propulsion system for its Haven-1 Space Station mission, the world’s first commercial space station.

The Series A also included other participant investors, such as Founders Fund, Lux Capital, Airbus Ventures and Space Capital.

Impulse Space Founder and CEO Tom Mueller said the support from RTX Ventures “speaks volumes” as the leading investment firm shows confidence un the future of Impulse Space and its technology.

According to RTX Ventures President and Managing Director Daniel Ateya, the firm invests in “companies that we believe provide breakthrough technologies that disrupt aerospace, defense and commercial aviation sectors."
