Filmmaker James Cameron and his wife, Suzy Amis Cameron, are forming partnerships with public school districts across the United States with their private, online learning platform Muse Virtual.

Muse Virtual said the new initiative, which aims to bring innovation to students' virtual learning experiences, is now accepting partnerships for the 2021-2022 academic school year.

Muse Virtual is an online learning program inspired by Calabasas, California-based Muse Global School, which was founded in 2006 by actress and environmental activist Suzy Amis Cameron and her sister, Rebecca Amis. The online program was created in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

During their first year online, Muse Virtual students participated in live classroom instruction, interactive lessons and collaborative learning with peers across the country, even partaking in after-school elective courses with family members such as plant-based cooking, performing arts and visual arts.

"Muse Virtual Students are flourishing through remote learning,” Suzanne McClure, director of Muse Virtual, said in a statement. “We want to bring the same opportunity to public school districts across the country during the 2021-2022 academic school year. This experience will enhance remote learning for public school students at a time when it is needed most.”

Under the partnership, public school districts will provide live classrooms of students with one-on-one connections with teachers. In addition to its core curriculum, Muse Virtual offers course work in performing arts, visual arts, seed-to-table, plant-based cooking and other topics that allow students to explore their interests beyond academics.

Muse said ingrained into each element of its model are the school's “five pillars” of passion-based learning, academics, sustainability, communication and self-efficacy.
