Welcome to The Roundup, a recap of recent L.A. startup news you need to know, from fundings to new product launches and other updates from local upstarts.

AGETECH: USC is launching a Masters of Science in Applied Technology and Aging program starting fall 2022. USC previously offered a gerontechnology concentration, but it's seen so much demand for the field that it's expanded into a new master's program. The program is for those interested (usually with engineering, design, health care or business backgrounds) in applying technology to the challenges an aging population faces. With the 65-plus population snowballing as baby boomers age, the agetech field is rich with opportunities.

RECOMMERCE: Arrive offers "recommerce" technology for any company to launch resale via a branded experience connected to their primary e-commerce site. Products are restored, graded and listed for resale at price points associated with the condition of the merchandise. They've now partnered with Eddie Bauer.

COFFEE: Chamberlain Coffee raised $7 million. The funding was led by Blazar Capital. Recent launches of the coffee include LA hot-spot Erewhon, national grocer Sprouts and digital delivery market Gopuff, along with partnerships with top brands like Levi's, Swoon, OffLimits Cereal and Nutpods.

SOCIAL APPS: 9count raised an additional $6 million, on top of its $21.5 Series A round. The extra funding came from investors including GGV Capital Redpoint, Signia, Greycroft and Progression. 9count is the maker of the friend-finder Wink and mobile dating app Summer (previously Spark).

AEROSPACE: Aerojet Rocketdyne's propulsion system is involved in NASA’s upcoming Artemis I mission. Artemis I is the first integrated test of NASA’s Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft. Powered by Aerojet Rocketdyne propulsion, SLS and Orion planned to blast off from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on August 29 to send Orion in a wide orbit around the moon, but. the launch was scrubbed after experiencing engine issues. The next available launch date is Sep. 2.
