Proptech startup brings in $100M, plus other L.A. startup funding news



A local proptech startup led the way this week with a massive $100 million round.

A handful of others, from an aerospace company to an underwater audio-streaming startup to a venture capital firm, raised millions more.

Keep reading to see who landed the biggest funding deals:

  • L.A.-based human resources startup Bambee landed $30 million in Series C funding this week. The round was led by SoftBank, QED and AlphaEdison, with participation from Mucker Capital, Ken Chenault, Damian Maldonado and Gaingel.
  • Hawke Ventures, an L.A.-based technology-focused venture capital firm, recently raised $25 million for its second venture fund. Investors included Banc of California, former LegalZoom executives Chris Welker and Dorian Quispe, CMO of Ruggable Linda Lai, Maropost Ventures, and Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of BLT Enterprises Daniel Rosenthal.
  • Slingshot Aerospace, dual headquartered in El Segundo and Austin, Texas, raised $25 million in its Series A-1 round. The new money is in addition to a $9.6 million Series A raised in fall 2020. Slingshot builds space simulation and analytics products to accelerate space sustainability.
  • Los Angeles-based Snappt, a startup offering fraud detection for property managers, closed a $100 million Series A funding round this week. The round was led by New York-based global private equity and venture capital firm Insight Partners.
  • Zygo, underwater audio-streaming company, sealed the deal on a $2.5 million seed round earlier this week, led by Charlie Melvoin and Sheera Goren. The Los Angeles-based company combines hardware and software to enable underwater streaming audio and live coaching while the app provides guided swim content paired to music.
