Los Angeles startups raise more than $100M this week

A music funding platform, cannabis-infused beverage company, and technology incubator led the way this week with upwards of $80 million in collective fundraising.

A handful of other startups in fintech, aerospace and cryptocurrency also banked hefty capital gains.

Check out what these Los Angeles startups have been up to this week:

  • Los Angeles-based BeatBread secured $34 million in seed funding led by Deciens Capital. The startup is a music funding platform that enables artists to access growth capital while maintaining control of their careers and ownership of their music.
  • Bodymatter, a Newport Beach-based startup using technology, data, clinical science and AI to improve human health, well-being and performance, has secured a $3 million seed round. Previous early-stage investors, venture capital, family offices and other entrepreneurs participated in the round.
  • Los Angeles cannabis-infused beverage brand Cann landed a $27 million Series A funding round. The round, led by GTI Capital and Imaginary Ventures, will fuel the startup's expansion in Canada.
  • ComplYant, a Los Angeles-based digital tax assistant for small business owners, closed a $5.5 million seed funding round. The round was led by Craft Ventures with participation from Mucker Capital, Slauson & Co. and Techstars.
  • Endgame, an L.A.-based product-led sales platform, snagged $30 million in seed funding. EQT Ventures led the round with participation from Lachy Groom and existing investors Menlo Ventures, Upfront Ventures and Unusual Ventures.
  • Ethernal Labs, an L.A.-based incubator and technology lab, raised a $20 million seed round this week. Investors include Riot Games Head of Creative and former League of Legends Lead Producer Thomas Vu, Fanatics owner Michael Rubin, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, Kenetic, Black Edge Capital, Morningstar Ventures, Ripple, Algorand, Banter Capital and Polygon Studios.
  • Long Beach-based startup Odys Aviation recently closed a $12.4 million seed round led by U.K.-based Giant Ventures, Silicon Valley venture firms Soma Capital and 11.2 Capital, Missouri-based Countdown Capital, Uber Elevate co-founder Nikhil Goel and Cruise Automation founder Kyle Vogt. Odys Aviation is developing vertical take-off and landing aircraft that would be able to ascend and descend without needing a runway.
  • OpenNode, a cryptocurrency payment software company in Los Angeles, bagged a $20 million Series A funding round this week. The investment was led by Kingsway with commitments from Twitter, Tim Draper and Avon Ventures.
  • Event management software company Swoogo closed a $20.5 million Series B funding led by Bain Capital. The Los Angeles-based startup's platform is designed to make event management workflows easy and intuitive for teams of all sizes.
