Kansas City-based TripleBlind is building on its momentum with the addition of executive hires.

The startup’s technology allows enterprises to securely share regulated and private data, without decrypting it or introducing additional risk and liabilities. It also adheres to regulatory standards such as HIPAA and GDPR.

TripleBlind’s new leadership team hires bring key expertise in a variety of areas:

  • Jim Smilyk, chief revenue officer: Smilyk has 20-plus years of sales management experience and has held C-suite and leadership roles at software and security companies such as Sepio Systems, Vectra Networks and Cynet.
  • Suraj Kapa, senior vice president of heath care: Kapa previously was a cardiac electrophysiologist and brings experience with leveraging artificial intelligence in health care. Most recently, he was medical director of AI knowledge management and delivery for the Mayo Clinic.
  • Tim Massey, vice president of product and customer success: Massey has worked with large enterprises and startups, including local tech companies such as EyeVerify, which sold in 2016 for a reported $100 million to Ant Financial. His most recent role with the company, now known as Zoloz, was general manager.
  • Siddhartha Banerjee, director of business development: Banerjee has more than 25 years of experience in global sales and consulting and has held senior sales roles at Databricks, Wipro and Compact Solutions.

“These strategic hires will allow TripleBlind to accelerate the commercial success our private data-sharing solution is achieving today. Each executive brings extensive experience that will propel us to unlock new opportunities in financial services and health care, as well as additional markets,” TripleBlind CEO and co-founder Riddhiman Das said in a release.

TripleBlind already has been unlocking its potential with successes, such as its $24 million Series A round announced in October. The Mayo Clinic and venture capital firm General Catalyst led the round. Earlier this year, the startup raised an $8.2 million seed round with investors such as Dolby Family Ventures, Okta Ventures and NextGen Venture Partners. TripleBlind also has landed local support from Overland Park-based Flyover Capital and Kansas City-based KCRise Fund.

As new data privacy regulations emerge, TripleBlind can unlock opportunities with pent-up demand, Das said during a previous interview. It can help collaborating entities, such as biotech and health care companies, gain access to data in days or weeks as opposed to months or years. TripleBlind, which started working with the Mayo Clinic in 2020, has been helping the nonprofit with aspects such as securing third-party EKG and genetic data for developing, validating and deploying algorithms.
