A new cannabis-infused product manufacturer sealed a sweet collaboration with Christopher Elbow Chocolates.
Clovr Marketing Director Bethanie White described the chocolate confections as “little bits of heaven.”
Kansas City-based Clovr debuted the chocolates a few months ago, which include gourmet chocolate bars infused with cannabis distillate in flavors such as crème brulée and salted almond. There’s also three bonbon offerings in salted vanilla caramel, citrus caramel and Italian espresso caramel. Each bonbon has 10 mg of THC.
White said Clovr had been wanting to offer a chocolate line, and a mutual connection introduced them to owner Christopher Elbow, who previously did cannabis collaborations in Colorado.
“His chocolates are amazing,” she said. “He was really big on having the chocolate taste exactly the same, but with cannabis. That was something we were striving for as well – to have this pure chocolate experience without a hashy flavor. … You’re able to medicate with chocolate, and I think anybody would rather eat a piece of chocolate versus popping a pill. We were trying to take that medication process and make it more pleasurable.”
Clovr also is a licensed manufacturing partner for national marijuana brands such as Wana, Keef and Robhots. Due to regulations, each brand must find licensed companies in each state they want to work in, she said.
“You can’t take cannabis from one state to the other. It has to be grown in that state. … Then we as their partner produce their product for them,” White said.
Clovr has manufactured products such as gummies, suckers, topicals and cannabis-infused beverages. Clovr also offers its own line of concentrates, including wax and shatter, an amber-colored extract with a glass-like texture.
In the future, Clovr plans to branch out into additional offerings, including mints with 2.5 mg of THC.
“We’re always looking to bring new products to the market,” she said. “We want to have something for everybody. That’s always been our goal.”
The company started out with eight different products and has since expanded to more than 50.
“The end is nowhere near,” White said.
The company’s growth also is evidenced in its headcount, which started at eight employees and now exceeds 50. Since its founding in 2020, the company has remained laser-focused on maintaining consistent, high-quality products. It also is focused on community engagement and has donated to nonprofits such as Harvesters and Rose Brooks.
