Kansas City-based Daupler Inc. secured a $4 million funding round led by early-stage venture fund Burnt Island Ventures. Other investors included KCRise Fund, Revolution Fund, Runway Venture Partners and Knoll Ventures.
Daupler, which built incident response management software for cities, utilities and other service providers, more than doubled its geographic footprint last year. It now serves customers in 26 states, Canada and Brazil.
Daupler plans to use the funding to continue improving its technology and to grow its team.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to partner with this great group of investors who share our vision of revolutionizing response management,” Daupler CEO and co-founder John Bertrand said in a release. “Our company is now well resourced and positioned to accelerate our expansion throughout municipalities, utilities, and many other service providers.”
Through Daupler’s software, cities and other service providers can easily communicate with staff regarding routine maintenance for streets and utilities, and emergency incidents, such as water main breaks and sewer overflows. Other features include the ability to aggregate reports from citizens, triage incidents and track the response process. On average, Daupler’s software can trim response times by 75%. One of its customers is the city of Oakland, California, which was able to reduce overtime and save $2 million during the first year of using the software.
In February, Daupler’s technology automated the response to more than 15,000 events during the Arctic blast.
Burnt Island Managing Partner Tom Ferguson described Daupler as a company that can become the “operational engine” for its customers.
Some of Daupler's local clients include Johnson County Wastewater, the city of Olathe and the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas. On the Missouri side, one of its customers is the city of Springfield.
