Jacksonville-based internet service provider IQ Fiber has been ranked the fastest internet service provider in Jacksonville, according to internet speed experts.

The ranking is based on data from consumer-initiated tests taken June through August 2023 with Ookla Speedtest.

As a part of that ranking, Ookla stated IQ Fiber had the “fastest, most reliable and most responsive internet speeds in Jacksonville” with upload speeds 18% faster and internet latency 42% better than all other measured competitors in Jacksonville, according to a statement from the company.

“Our customers tell us that their experience with IQ Fiber is far superior to their former legacy internet provider,” IQ Fiber CEO Ted Schremp said in a statement. “We are thrilled to now have the independent analysis that proves IQ Fiber is delivering on our promise of the fastest internet service available in Jacksonville. Our network performance, combined with a streamlined customer experience, demonstrates that our customers can do more and get more from the internet than ever before.”

This independent ranking helps the local company differentiate itself from national competitors as it continues on a more than two-year-long expansion plan.

In June, IQ Fiber announced an initial investment in Gainesville, estimated at nearly $40 million. This expansion comes on the heels of IQ Fiber receiving a $150 million equity investment from its founding investor, SDC Capital Partners. IQ Fiber’s latest round of equity funding allowed it to accelerate expansion efforts including expanding into Alachua County, the company said at the time of the announcement.

Headquartered in Jacksonville, IQ Fiber is deploying its network across Duval, Clay, Nassau and St. Johns counties. The North Central Florida expansion marks the company’s first major network expansion outside of the Jacksonville metro region. The company will establish a satellite office in Gainesville and hire over 30 employees to support the expansion.
