Telescope Health and Baptist Health recently announced a partnership to provide telehealth services to Baptist's more than 13,000 employees and eligible dependents.
The move is part of the Jacksonville-based telehealth company's efforts to become the preferred telemedicine provider for First Coast companies.
"We currently are in talks with several Jacksonville based companies to engage their staff in onboarding our platform as their preferred telemedicine offering," Telescope Health co-founder Dr. Matthew Thompson said via e-mail. "Companies are excited to provide a local option with care coordination that helps their employees navigate the healthcare landscape."
Telescope Health provides telemedicine services in collaboration with local providers from Baptist Health, Wolfson Children’s Hospital and Southeast Georgia Health System. The company provides board-certified emergency and family physicians for on-demand, virtual visits 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The deal with Baptist means that employees will have a lower co-pay if they use Telescope as their telemedicine provider.
Partnering with a health care system made sense, the company's co-founder said.
“When in the role of providing care to others, it’s easy to forget your own personal health needs,” Thompson said. “For those in health care, it often comes to seeking advice in the hallway, asking for referrals via text messages or even heading to the ER for common medical problems. On-demand access to physicians is greatly needed by those working in health care.”
