Jacksonville-based IQ Fiber announced it will deploy its first network to Atlantic Beach.

The estimated $12.5 million project is set to begin soon and will provide internet speeds between 250 and 1,000 Mbps.

“Atlantic Beach residents will finally have a smarter choice for high-speed broadband,” said Ted Schremp, CEO of IQ Fiber. “We are building not just a network that is purpose-built for the modern internet, but also providing a streamlined and simplified customer experience that removes the hassles consumers endure today.”

Construction consists of the installation of underground conduit and fiber-optic cables that extend from the core internet backbone directly into individual customers' homes, allowing for the fastest internet speeds available while supporting the growth in internet usage and demand.

“We welcome IQ Fiber to Atlantic Beach and are very pleased that fiber-optic service is being made available to our community,” Atlantic Beach Mayor Ellen Glasser said. “I’m certain our residents and businesses will appreciate having a new choice for internet service – and that the service is being provided by a local company.”

Last month, the local ISP announced a partnership with Calix Inc. and CHR Solutions for broadband technology and customer support capabilities.
