Online food delivery service Bite Squad is looking to hire 200 new contract drivers in the Jacksonville-area, according to a statement from the company Tuesday.

The delivery service has been serving the area since 2017 and has expanded multiple times over the years to include new areas and more dining options.

Bite Squad said all new hires in the Jacksonville region will have access to a GasCard program, which will give drivers 5% off on gas from all major retailers. The initiative announced last month is to support its delivery drivers as gasoline prices remain high in the Jacksonville area, as well the entire county. The GasCard is located within the driver app, allowing them to receive the five-percent discount immediately after purchasing a card, according to a statement from the company.

In addition to the GasCard, Bite Squad said it is adjusting its driver pay as another way to help drivers.

Bite Squad said the drivers will be able to start immediately. Requirements for applicants include a valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance and a smart phone.

Chris Barnes, head of Driver Operations, says flexible schedules are available for drivers looking to be part of the food delivery industry. The company offers no-contact delivery for all restaurant orders for enhance safety for drivers and customers.

“We strive to provide quality service to our restaurant partners and diners while also focusing on our recruiting and retention efforts to ensure that our independent contractor driver base remains at appropriate levels to meet delivery demands,” said Carl Grimstad, Chairman and CEO.

Bite Squad operates an online ordering technology platform, providing delivery, carryout and dine-in options. Bite Squad, along with Waitr and Delivery Dudes, connect local restaurants and grocery stores to diners in underserved U.S. markets. Additionally, it facilitates access to third parties that provide payment processing solutions for restaurants and other merchants.
