A Houston-based provider of log management and security information event management services has made changes to its leadership team, including one of its co-founders moving to a different role.

Lennart Koopmann founded Graylog in 2009 and served as its chief technology officer until the company announced Nov. 16 that Robert Rea was hired to serve as CTO. Koopmann will be the company’s chief product officer, a position he said would allow him to focus on product strategy and other efforts.

“I look forward to working more closely with customers and building upon our strengths to provide the most awesome log management platform available with the best user experience around,” Koopmann said.

Rea recently held positions at ShiftLeft and ArmorSecurity, with experience in endpoint telemetry, cloud native security, and data lakes, Graylog said.

“I look forward to working closely with the Graylog team to help the company evolve, grow and flourish,” Rea said. “I’m excited to help influence advances in log management and SIEM to deliver high-quality, differentiated solutions that our users and customers love.”

Graylog CEO Andy Grolnick said the restructuring came as part of an evaluation of how the company could ensure “optimum focus and capacity going forward.”

“I’m excited to welcome a talented and experienced engineering leader like Robert to our team while simultaneously enabling Lennart to focus his talent, vision and versatility fully on product management, strategy and community,” Grolnick said.

Graylog was recognized as a 2022 winner of Houston Inno's 2022 Fire Awards, seven years after it relocated its headquarters to the Bayou City from Hamburg, Germany. The company also opened a London office in March 2021 and announced an $18 million equity fund raise in June of the same year.
