Houston-based Ally Energy, a network aimed at increasing diversity and inclusion in the energy industry, is expanding its careers platform capabilities with a new acquisition.
Ally Energy, which was formerly known as Pink Petro, connects energy professionals to share career advice, publish insights and network. The platform also works with energy organizations to attract a diverse range of top talent. On July 20, Ally announced the acquisition of Denver-based Clean Energy Social, a platform of job opportunities supporting the clean energy industry, including roles in sales, engineering, project management, IT, construction, operations and more. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Ally aims to provide a comprehensive platform for workers throughout the energy value chain to find job opportunities, skills training and networking. Businesses of all sizes are able to use the platform to source diverse, qualified talent in the energy sector. Ally has expanded to support 50 enterprise clients in the energy sector, according to the firm's website.
"It’s time to tackle the enormous challenge of the energy transition by connecting companies and candidates to resources so we can reduce the time and capital it takes to recruit and reskill," said Katie Mehnert, founder and CEO of Ally. "We can speed up decarbonization by centralizing resources into one digital experience."
The acquisition of Clean Energy Social enhances Ally Energy's platform with more jobs at more companies in the energy sector, including careers in solar, wind, oil and gas, power and utilities, biofuels, hydrogen, geothermal, carbon capture and more.
"We are very excited that our efforts will help support Ally's continued exponential growth," said Jesse Truax, founder and CEO at Clean Energy Social. "Ally's unique position as an energy integrator and source for diverse talent to advance decarbonization, combined with our careers platform and clean energy audience, amplifies the value that we can provide to our customers across energy."
Ally Energy is headquartered in Greentown Labs' Houston location at 4200 San Jacinto St. in Midtown. Ally was one of around 30 startup companies to join Greentown Labs when the clean tech accelerator launched its Houston location this spring.
Shanta Eaden, who previously served as director of project management office for Weatherford International, joined Ally Energy as the firm's first COO in May. She boasts two decades of experience in enterprise technology and operations in the finance and energy industries.
"This acquisition doubles the size of our community and marks the opportunity to build human insights into our product to ensure candidates are well matched with a company," Eaden said. "We’re excited about the future of our roadmap and look forward to continued growth."
Ally Energy rebranded from Pink Petro at the beginning of the year. Pink Petro was launched in 2015 by Mehnert, an energy industry veteran with experience at BP PLC (NYSE: BP) and Shell Oil Co. Pink Petro originally was a social media platform built by the energy sector for women, girls and diversity advocates.
