Player Personnel: Colorado's top tech and startup hires in September

While Covid-19 has slowed hiring plans for many, the state’s top technology companies and startups are still bringing on crucial new personnel during this pandemic.

We track the major player personnel moves in our daily newsletter, the Beat. Below, we’ve listed the top Colorado technology and startup hires reported in September.

Denver's Matillion, a provider of data transformation for cloud data warehouses, today announced that Kenneth Paqvalen is joining the company as CFO. Prior to Joining Matillion, Paqvalen came from relational open source database provider MariaDB, where he served as CFO. More on the hire here.

Aspero Medical, a Boulder-based medical device startup focused on developing solutions and applications for gastroenterology, announced that it has expanded its team to include a director of engineering and director of operations. Allison Lyle has joined as director of engineering and Jeff Castleberry will serve as the director of operations. More on the hires here.

Broomfield-based Conga, a digital document management company, has named a new CEO. Noel Goggin is taking over the position from Frank Holland, who will focus on empowering the innovation and acceleration of the company into its next phase of growth. Holland was the CEO of Apttus, the company that recently acquired Conga. More on the new boss from the DBJ here.

TeamSnap, a Boulder-based sports management platform, announced that Shaina Jordan has joined the company’s senior leadership team as head of data engineering and analytics. In the role, Jordan will be responsible for maximizing TeamSnap’s analytical intelligence data to better support sports organizations, teams and brand partners. Prior to joining TeamSnap, Jordan most recently served as chief of staff at Guild Education.

Broomfield-based Crocs announced that Michelle Poolehas been appointed as president, reporting to CEO Andrew Rees. Prior to the appointment, Poole served as Crocs' executive VP, chief product and merchandising officer since April and has been with the company since 2014. More on the promotion here.

BillingPlatform, a cloud-based monetization and billing solution provider, announced that Eric Fleischman has joined its board of directors. A technology veteran, Fleischman has nearly two decades of experience developing and leading engineering teams that have created mission-critical digital platforms that businesses rely on. He is currently the chief architect and vice president of platform engineering for DocuSign, and previously served in engineering and product management leadership positions at Microsoft.

Cologix, a Denver-based data center company, announced that Page Shaper Haun has joined the company as its new chief marketing officer. Prior to Cologix, Haun served as the global head of brand strategy, content and creative services at Equinix. More on the hire here.

Andres Barreto’s history with Techstars goes back more than a decade. When the program was first getting off the ground in Boulder in 2007, Barreto and his company Grooveshark were encouraged to apply to the program by co-founder David Cohen. He didn’t take that opportunity, but reconnected with the global accelerator a few years later in New York with his new company, Onswipe. Now, Barreto is back in the Techstars network, taking over as managing director in Boulder. Barreto takes over for Natty Zola, who left the company after five years in charge to focus on his venture firm, Matchstick Ventures. Zola will shift into a mentorship role for Techstars as he remains in Boulder.

Boulder cybersecurity startup Automox announced that Pascal Borghino has joined the company as VP of engineering and architecture. Most recently serving as the head of the developer platform at WeWork, and previously as a director in infrastructure engineering at Twitter, Borghino will lead Automox engineering and report directly to CEO Jay Prassl. Broomfield-based Crocs announced that Charisse Ford Hughes has been appointed to its board of directors. Ford Hughes currently serves as senior VP and global chief marketing officer of Kellogg Company, where she is responsible for building global strategies for the company's portfolio of snack and cereal brands. Golden's PharmaJet, a maker of needle-free injection technology, announced that Melissa Malhame has joined the leadership team as VP of business development. Malhame has more than 25 years of experience in business development, strategic sales and marketing for major vaccine providers such as Gavi, Dynavax and Merck. She has also supported global health investments in new vaccine candidates and expanded access to existing vaccines. More on the hire here.
