Much like Tinder and Bumble have done for dating, Colorado startup CivX wants to give U.S. citizens the ability to support political legislation with a swipe.

The startup today launched its new mobile platform, the CivX app, which gives users an opportunity to view and support docketed legislation and make monetary donations.

The platform operates similarly to dating and networking apps, displaying an image and summary of a bill proposed by Congress, along with additional details including the bill’s sponsors, sponsor state, sponsor party, date introduced, latest action taken and the complete text.

From there, users are able to show approval or disapproval on the bill with a swipe and can donate to support the cause. Donations from the app’s crowdfunding capability are donated directly to the elected official’s reelection campaign that the user is interested in supporting.

“We realized that expecting accountability by proxy from lobbying interests just wasn’t the answer anymore,” CivX COO Jason Riccardi said in a statement. “For better or worse, politicians bound to special interests and mega donors became part of the fabric of modern American politics. When developing CivX, we simply asked, ‘How can we take promises out of the equation and focus on actions to make our democracy more representative?’ The CivX app is designed to be a civic engagement tool that provides a voice and a vehicle for the average citizen.”

The CivX app also allows users to search and track the progress of congressional bills, check financial support for or against each bill and receive notifications when a bill is introduced, voted on, approved, vetoed or reaches $1 million in donations.

The app is currently available for download in the Apple App store.
