As a stay-at-home mom with two young daughters and a husband busy as a firefighter, Noelle Garcia found herself missing human connection with other women.

She was craving human interaction and was willing to do whatever it took to get it, even if it meant starting her own business.

Garcia started small, tying luxury hair sparkles into friends and family’s hair for fun. She saw that the products she was using were unreliable, often melting into her client’s hair.

So, she began hunting for a better product and found one that would stand up to the heat. From there she began spreading the word about her SILX hair sparkles, thin thread that can be temporarily tied into hair to give it a shimmering and reflective effect, quickly gaining a loyal following.

“A month later, people were calling me from all over town. Business people I had never met or heard of wanted me to have pop-up shops, be a part of the grand opening, birthday parties, you name it,” she said.

In a month, she made over $2,000 on SILX and saw a larger potential for the hair accessories. Rather than selling or tying the synthetic silk hair sparkles herself, Garcia saw an opportunity to launch an ambassador program to women around the world.

“We could do an affiliate program and teach women to do what we do, make their displays so they have a business in a box,’ she said.

After partnering with Lindsay Roselle, the duo launched SILX Global in March 2018.

Within six months, Garcia was getting invites to Facebook, Bumble and iHeart Media offices to demonstrate and tie SILX into employee’s hair. In the first year SILX brought on over 100 affiliates selling and using their products, including one in Switzerland.

An affiliate starter pack costs $895 and consists of 1,450 SILX, the tools needed to tie them into client's hair and customized training videos and support to get you started. The company estimates affiliates will make a minimum of $5,800 off of the starter pack.

“We weren’t necessarily expecting the success. But this brand has taken off,” Garcia said. “Through this process we've built this huge platform and community. We have a group of women trust us with SILX.”

The five-person team is based in Fort Collins and is preparing to launch the company’s second product, a hair extension line.

Garcia launched SILX Global in search of human interaction with other women and ended up creating a network of female entrepreneurs.

“Our brand has evolved and we are all about women empowerment,” she said. “My husband and I want to show our daughters that as women, we are capable of anything.”
