As Outdoor Retailer's Snow Show wrapped up last week in Denver, a new Colorado accelerator focused on recreation startups announced its inaugural class.
The Catapult Outdoor Recreation Accelerator was launched in 2018 in partnership with Active Interest Media, the Outdoor Industry Association and Outdoor Retailer to support outdoor industry startups.
The 12-week accelerator program gives the startups an opportunity to grow their company with industry mentorship, free exhibitor space at Outdoor Retailer's June trade show and an opportunity to present at Boulder Startup Week.
The program provides the startups with free housing and office space in Boulder and Gunnison, but does not take equity as part of the deal. The program begins on March 25 and wraps up on June 17.
According to a story in SNEWS, more than 30 companies applied to be part of the first program and only these four were chosen:
This Denver-based startup is building software to simplify the rental gear discovery and booking process. The company partners with mom and pop rental shops, equipping them with management tools, while providing gear-seekers with a consolidated view of bookable online gear rentals.
The Boulder startup has developed ambient mood lighting products designed for campers. The Trail Hound, one of the company's first products, is a 30 foot USB powered camping light that comes in eight colors and retails for $30.
This Austin-based startup has created a solution for portable, hot showers. It's flagship product, The Geyser, gives users a seven minute hot shower using only a gallon of water and your car's DC outlet or portable battery.
