A Denver-based supply chain startup is taking its solution worldwide, using data to support vaccine distribution in Senegal and Uganda.

Parsyl announced a partnership with Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance to expand its offerings to Africa, assisting in vaccine supply chain. Gavi is an international organization bringing together public and private sectors to create equal access to new and underused vaccines for children living in the world’s poorest countries.

"Partnering with a global organization like Gavi allows us to use our commercial solution to have a real impact on improving lives at scale, which is something that motivates our team every day. We're thrilled to already be working in Uganda and Senegal and look forward to working with other developing countries in the future," Parsyl CEO Ben Hubbard said in an email to Colorado Inno.

Parsyl's supply chain solution provides answers to critical questions about what happened to vaccines during shipment and storage, the causes and locations of any vaccine degradation and what improvements can be made.

Parsyl’s monitoring devices combined with its mobile application and web platform provide near real-time visibility of the entire vaccine supply chain.

“The global effort to ensure every child, no matter where they live, has access to lifesaving vaccines relies completely on having strong, reliable supply chains,” said Dr, Seth Berkley, CEO of Gavi in a release. “These precious vaccines can travel thousands of miles across the world to reach remote communities in Africa and Asia, but if they become too hot or too cold during that very last mile all the effort is for naught. That’s why this partnership with Parsyl is so important, ensuring that countries are using the latest technology to keep these vaccines effective.”

Parsyl is already monitoring HPV vaccines funded by Gavi and the Government of Senegal that will reach over one million Senegalese girls. These efforts aim to reduce rates of cervical cancer, a leading cause of cancer death among women in low- and lower-middle-income countries.

The company also announced a recent partnership with insurance company Lloyd's of London to offer crafted risk coverage for sensitive shipments using Parsyl's IoT quality assurance and risk management solution.

As Parsyl expands globally, Hubbard said the 14-person Denver team will remain in the city.

"We will be expanding the team in the coming months, mostly in engineering, and Denver will remain our home," Hubbard said.

Parsyl raised a $2.8 million seed round in June and was recently named one of Colorado Inno's 19 Startups to Watch in 2019.
