After finding success in DC, home renovation startup remodelmate is making the move to Denver.
Remodelmate CEO Chad Hall told Colorado Inno that the company is expanding its services to the Denver-area in the near future.
“We just finished raising our first round of outside funds and we were looking to figure out where the next best place to expand,” Hall said. “What made us successful in DC was the relatively young and tech savvy community.”
Hall said after considering a few different cities, the remodelmate team landed on Denver.
He said the demographics played a large part in the decision, as well as the booming construction industry across the state.
Remodelmate is an online marketplace designed to connect homeowners with contractors to perform home improvement projects. Homeowners receive a detailed explanation of the expected project costs and are able to manage the project via the platform.
For contractors, the platform saves them time by using remodelmate to connect contractors with install-ready jobs.
Hall said remodelmate differs from services like Angie’s List because users not only get connected with approved contractors, they can also manage the project from start to finish.
“Home improvement is a stressful process, and it’s never not going to be. But, our goal is to make it a little more predictable, so people can enjoy the new renovation they’re going through,” Hall said.
In addition to offering its services in Denver, the company will also hire a small Denver-based team to operate remodelmate locally.
Hall said remodelmate took off in the past year, doing over $800,000 in sales in the DC-area. In the year prior, remodelmate only did $180,000 in sales. The company was also recently honored by DC Inno during its 50 on Fire announcement.
There’s no exact date for remodelmate’s rollout in Denver, though Hall said it will coincide with the early 2019 launch of remodelmate 2.0, an upgrade to the platform.
Currently, there are contractors and homeowners signed up for beta projects and Hall said remodelmate will begin with those projects to ensure a smooth rollout in the state.
