In partnership with American Inno, Taylor McLemore, managing director of the Techstars Workforce Development Accelerator, is debuting a new podcast exploring the relationship of technology and work.
The Workforce Podcast explores the boundaries of education and the future of work to understand how and why people labor. The conversations search for an understanding of problems and opportunities in the workforce, enabling entrepreneurs and innovators to build a better future.
The podcast brings together a diverse group of people and perspectives: startup founders, investors, company executives, education influencers, government leaders and community innovators.
In the first episode, McLemore discussed the impact of Black Lives Matter on diversity in tech with Neal Sáles-Griffin, managing director of the Techstars Chicago Accelerator.
Sáles-Griffin is an entrepreneur, teacher and nonprofit leader and most recently ran for mayor of Chicago.
"From my own point of view, I am completely obsessed with progress and activating progress in others. There's a deep emphasis on wanting to bring people up, especially with the beginner-focused lens, because of the community where I'm from," Sáles-Griffin said. "I think the unique perspective I have as an entrepreneur, venture capitalist and educator is being from where I'm from on the South Side of Chicago. Being mixed-race, primarily identifying as Black, but having a lot of other things going on."
