Techstars is adding four Colorado startups to its portfolio this summer.
The startup investor and accelerator program operator recently announced the summer 2023 class for Techstars Boulder and its Techstars Farm to Fork class. Four startups based in Denver, Centennial and Boulder will participate in these two programs.
Techstars offers in-person, virtual and hybrid accelerator programs in 39 U.S. cities and 14 countries and has backed 196 businesses. Its first accelerator program began in Boulder in 2007, where the company is still legally based.
The newly announced Boulder summer accelerator will run for 13 weeks and consists of 12 startups hailing from Colorado, California, New York, Virginia, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and Canada. It is one of two Boulder programs offered each year.
"In this class, we've already noticed three strong themes," Malte Witt, managing director of Techstars Boulder, said it a statement. "Each company displays a remarkable blend of vision, earned insights into the problems they are solving and disruptive solutions that position them as future industry leaders."
Centennial-based Dapple Security and Denver-based Testimonial IQ are participating in the Techstars Boulder program. Dapple Security is a digital identity and security startup that offers users and businesses a phishing-resistant passwordless login. Testimonial IQ helps financial advisers build and manage their digital brand with client testimonials and marketing content.
Techstars Farm to Fork program is also welcoming two Colorado-based startups. The program will take place in Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Minnesota, with 12 companies participating, including Boulder-based Goodie Bag and Denver-based Farmshare.
Goodie Bag helps consumers purchase surplus food from local businesses at discounted prices. Farmshare connects consumers with farmers, fishers, ranchers and other food producers through its online farmer's market.
The Farm to Fork program, in collaboration with Ecolab, began in 2018 to solve challenges in the food system.
"The founders in our 2023 class are working to solve how we sustainably feed our growing population as safely and efficiently as possible by innovating in everything from restaurant and manufacturing technology to innovative solutions for animal health," Sarah Bain, managing director of Techstars Farm to Fork, said in a statement.
In addition to these programs, Techstars made headlines last month because it is actively raising $150 million for its next fund.
