A global health tech company based in Westminster rebranded this fall to Sagility — a mix of "sage" and "agility" — following its divestment from the service management company Hinduja Global Solutions Limited.

Hinduja Global Solutions, or HGS, sold its health care services business, HGS Healthcare, to private investment firm Baring Private Equity Asia for $1.2 billion. HGS transferred all of its client contracts and more than 25,000 employees to the firm.

With the change of ownership, HGS Healthcare sought a different name, and it set new goals to grow its revenue, as well as its staff and worldwide presence, said Kevin Nolan, Sagility's head of health care marketing. The company ended 2021 with $462 million in revenue and is seeking to double that to nearly $1 billion.

"We have some pretty aggressive revenue goals to come close to doubling our revenue within just a couple of years," Nolan said.

HGS Healthcare worked with a rebranding agency to come up with its new name. The agency reached out to HGS' clients, who discussed the company's expertise and responsiveness, Nolan said. Those conversations led to the name Sagility.

The company unveiled its new name at the end of September and used it at an industry conference for the first time last week.

Sagility delivers health care-related process management services to about 50 clients and works with many large health insurers, as well as regional insurance plans and health care providers. Though it has offices around the world, most of Sagility's business is done in the U.S.

"If you've ever called the toll-free number for your health insurance plan, and the conversation was good, the person you were talking to probably works for us," Nolan said. "Similarly, if you've had a claims-processing experience that went well, we probably handled the claim."

HGS is headquartered in Bangalore, India, but relocated its health sector to Colorado after it acquired Westminster-based Access Point Health in 2018. Access Point Health, a health management company with about 400 employees, is still operating under Sagility's umbrella as the company's care services arm.

"Our clients and prospects are U.S.-based companies," Nolan said. "At that point, it made sense that Colorado become our new global headquarters."

In addition to its headquarters in Westminster, Sagility operates U.S. offices in El Paso, Texas; Jacksonville, Florida; Princeton, New Jersey; and Atlanta, Georgia. It also has offices in Jamaica, India and the Philippines. Since the sale to Baring closed in January, Sagility has opened new offices in Colombia and the Caribbean, Nolan said.

Sagility is also looking to grow its staff. It's currently hiring for its offices in the U.S., the Philippines and India.

Sagility CEO Ramesh Gopalan told Business Line, an Indian business newspaper, that the company is experiencing more flexibility under Baring's ownership and would target to double its technology team over the next year. Sagility also plans to acquire companies in order to further develop its health care capabilities, he told the newspaper.
