While the winter resurgence of Covid-19 threatens its in-person return, CES is planning to go ahead with its annual technology trade show in Las Vegas next week and 26 Colorado companies will be in attendance.
After cancelling the event last year, CES expects to have more than 2,200 companies exhibiting this year at the event from Jan. 5 through 8. In both 2019 and 2020, CES estimated that more than 4,000 companies were in attendance.
As Covid-19 infections have flared in recent weeks, big-ticket companies including Amazon, Google and Intel have dropped their in-person presence. Despite that, CES organizers are still planning to hold the event.
CES is mandating vaccination at the event and recommending attendees test for Covid-19 prior to attending. On Dec. 22, event organizers confirmed that CES would go on and that interest remained high from both visitors and exhibitors.
“While we recently received 42 exhibitor cancellations (less than 7% of our exhibit floor), since last Friday we've added 60 new exhibitors for our in-person event. Registrations for both our digital access and our Las Vegas event are continuing to show strong momentum, with thousands more registrations in the last few days,” a CES spokesperson wrote in a Dec. 22 release.
Colorado will be well-represented at this year’s event, with startups in biotech, robotics, fitness and aerospace taking part in CES 2022.
