Denver-based child gear recommerce startup Good Buy Gear is making a move to the East Coast that will double its inventory and mark a crucial step in the company’s nationwide growth.

Good Buy Gear, an online marketplace for parents to buy and sell used gear, has announced its expansion to Philadelphia with the opening of its largest distribution location.

The new brick-and-mortar presence enables parents within certain Philadelphia-area ZIP codes to sign up for pickup and drop-off services to sell used baby and kid gear.

"We're thrilled to offer our selling services to Philadelphia parents," said Marc Minkler, VP of operations, in a statement. "Not only are we in close proximity to our existing customer base, but this is also an exciting opportunity to help busy parents, who live up to 50 miles outside of the city, conveniently declutter while saving time and money."

Good Buy Gear is a marketplace for secondhand children’s gear and accessories, like strollers, jumpers, toys and much more. The startup picks up used items from parents looking to sell their children’s accessories, checks them for safety and quality, cleans them and stores them in the company’s warehouse.

From there, Good Buy Gear prices the items and lists them on its website for sale. Sellers receive a portion of the profits, based on the sale price of the item.

Prior to this expansion, Good Buy Gear closed a $6 million Series A round in October 2020 to grow its product and team and fuel expansion efforts. Revolution Ventures led the round, with participation from existing investors Access Venture Partners and Relay Ventures.

At the time of the funding, the Denver startup, which was founded by Kristin Langenfeld and Jessica Crothers, had only been operating in the Mile High City and Dallas. It has since expanded to Houston and, now, Philadelphia.

This announcement is just the first step for Good Buy Gear on its East Coast growth.

"Philadelphia is just our first stop on the East Coast. This new fulfillment center allows us to work toward continued growth and expansion of our storefront collection centers in the East Coast metros, including Washington, D.C. later this year, in an effort to make shopping and selling baby and kid gear sustainable for the planet and accessible to all those that inhabit it." Minkler added.
