Denver is set to gain a new giant tech employer as New York-based Datadog has chosen the Mile High City as its western U.S. hub.

Datadog, a monitoring and security platform for cloud applications, announced today that it will expand its Denver presence and hire for more than 400 new jobs.

The announcement comes about six months after the Colorado Economic Development Commission agreed to offer $5.4 million in incentives to lure Datadog to the city, under the name “Project Rover.” At the time, Denver was competing with Dublin, Ireland, for Datadog’s expansion plans.

“Datadog is a great addition to Colorado’s global tech sector and a tremendous example of the power of employee ownership,” said Governor Jared Polis, in a statement. “With all of its full-time employees having an equity stake in Datadog, the company’s success is truly everyone’s success and that makes these new jobs so rewarding.”

Datadog, which was founded in 2010, offers software as a service solutions for a variety of industries including financial services, health care, retail and more, and has customers including Peloton, Deloitte, Comcast and Nasdaq.

Currently, Datadog has 98 employees in Denver and will hire across sales, marketing and support. At the time of the state’s incentive offer, Datadog said the 400 new jobs would have an average annual wage of $122,194.

“Datadog is made up of excellent team members all over the world, and we’re excited to expand the team in Denver,” Datadog CEO Olivier Pomel said in a statement. “This new office will help us serve customers in the region and grow our business. We’re proud to work with the State of Colorado to bring these new jobs to Denver.”

Datadog has offices in New York, Boston, Paris, Ireland and Denver, and operates in 30 different countries.

“This is a major boost to our local economy through excellent-paying career opportunities, and Denver is excited to see Datadog show their commitment to our community with this expansion decision,” Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock said in a statement. “As Denver gains momentum towards a sustainable economic recovery, this type of announcement confirms that the foundations of our local economy, supported by our competitive talent pool, remain strong.”
