More than a year after its $165 million acquisition, Denver technology education company Galvanize has brought on a new top executive.

The company announced today that it has appointed Ricky Hamilton as the new chief executive officer, as he takes over for former CEO Harsh Patel.

Patel, who stepped into the role in April 2019, is “raising a newborn and advising and investing in space, fintech, education and healthcare companies I believe in,” according to his LinkedIn profile.

Prior to being named CEO, Hamilton served as executive VP of revenue operations and as chief of staff to Patel. And, before Galvanize, Hamilton worked at global management company McKinsey & Company.

“I’m honored to take on this role at Galvanize, and I’m proud of everything we’ve done to build an incredible community that’s united by our shared devotion to lifelong learning,” Hamilton said in a statement. “I look forward to building on Galvanize’s legacy of transforming career paths and companies, and to supporting our growing community of educators, students, alumni, clients, entrepreneurs and staff.”

The news comes as Galvanize’s parent company Stride Inc. (NYSE: LRN) reported its career learning revenue grew 191% year over year in the third fiscal quarter, which ended on March 31.

Galvanize, which was founded in 2012, offers full-time and part-time immersive boot camps and has more than 8,000 graduates that have gone on to work at over 2,250 companies.

The company was acquired for $165 million in an all-cash transaction by Virginia-based K12 Inc., now known as Stride, a for-profit education company.

Stride provides online and blended education curriculums to charter schools, public school districts, private schools, families and for post-secondary settings. It serves more than 2,000 school districts.

“Ricky’s professional experiences underscore his business philosophy and motivate him to make Galvanize an even greater success,” Dr. Shaun McAlmont, Stride’s president of career learning solutions, said in a statement. “His passion for leveling the playing field for access to high-quality education will continue to drive the company forward, as Galvanize connects working professionals with tech careers and helps companies find the right tech talent.”
