Techstars is back with a new class of startups for its annual Boulder accelerator and this time it’s going entirely virtual.

After having to adjust on the fly in 2020, new Techstars Boulder Managing Director Andres Barreto said the program will be 100% remote in 2021. This will also mark Barreto’s first cohort in charge, months after he took over for Natty Zola and a decade after he went through a Techstars accelerator as an entrepreneur.

Since launching in 2007, Techstars Boulder has had over 150 companies graduate that have gone on to raise over $1.2 billion.

Due in part to the remote format, Techstars Boulder’s 15th class will feature founders from across North America, Latin America and East Asia, with over half of the companies led by diverse founders from underrepresented backgrounds.

“Operating our program in a remote format is allowing us to work with extraordinary founders regardless of their locations,” Barreto wrote in a blog post. “We have founders participating in the program from across North America, Latin America, and East Asia. We are also excited that over half the companies are led by diverse founders from underrepresented backgrounds.”
