CabinetM, the Boston-based startup behind a management platform for marketing teams, has acquired a year-old startup called Stacktus. No financial terms were disclosed.

Based in Denver, Stacktus was founded in 2019 to help marketing technologists and operations teams gain central oversight of their tech stacks. CabinetM, which was co-founded in 2014 by serial entrepreneurs and angel investors Anita Brearton and Sheryl Schultz, has a very similar mission: to make the martech world a little less overwhelming by centralizing software resources in what CabinetM now says is the industry's most comprehensive database of marketing tools.

Per a statement emailed to BostInno, when Brearton, Schultz and Stacktus founder Megan Michuda started talking, it became clear that the companies were well-aligned in both mission and vision, and "Stacktus would be a welcome addition to the CabinetM team and brand."

"I built Stacktus to serve the internal need I had in my role, when the complexity of marketing technology management far extended the capabilities of spreadsheets or PowerPoint slides," Michuda said in the statement. "Being able to bring Stacktus and its customers to a technology management leader like CabinetM is a win-win for both organizations."

Stacktus' intellectual assets will be fully integrated into CabinetM's Enterprise platform. The startup will no longer have standalone operations, instead focusing on advancing CabinetM.

As part of the transaction, Michuda will join CabinetM as an advisor and community manager for CabinetM users.

“From the start, CabinetM has been focused on helping marketing operations teams navigate the complexity of managing their large and growing martech stacks, mapping integrations and data flows, and responding to reporting and visualization demands," Brearton said in a statement. "We are delighted to add Megan’s deep marketing operations background to our team."
