Keeping in line with Colorado's 'Give First' startup ethos, two Denver tech companies with Australian ties have come together to raise money and show support for Australian bushfire relief and restoration.

Assignar and Rosterfy have taken the lead on the event, hosting Booze for Roos this week in Denver.

Assignar, based in Denver and Sydney, builds construction operations management software for subcontractors and general contractors. Rosterfy, a Melbourne-based company with a Denver presence, offers workforce management software designed to deliver solutions for large scale events and venues.

Booze for Roos kicks off on Friday, Jan. 24 at 5:30 p.m. at Ironton Distillery & Crafthouse in Denver.

This event and proceeds will go to supporting the Red Cross Australia, WIRES (Australian Wildlife Rescue) and Wildlife Victoria.

Organizers also have a commitment from a private company that all funds raised from the event up to $5,000 will be matched.

The raffle is one of the event's highlights, featuring items like a signed Liverpool FC jersey, a Von Miller signed Denver Broncos football, Nuggets box tickets and much more. All of the proceeds from the raffle and auction will be donated to the charities.

The music at the event will also be Aussie themed, as Triple J Hottest 100 songs of 2019, an annual countdown of Australians' favorite 100 songs, will be played all night.

While rain has slowed the spread of the fires, about 16 million acres have burned in New South Wales and Victoria, where the crisis is centered, according to the New York Times. That’s an area about the size of West Virginia.
