After a positive experience in a local accelerator program and a recent injection of capital, Portland, Ore.-based Cloud Campaign is eyeing a Boulder office to build out its team.

Cloud Campaign, a social media management platform for marketing agencies, announced a $1.5 million seed round Friday, led by Active Capital, a San Antonio-based seed firm for B2B SaaS companies in secondary markets.

Other investors included Access Venture Partners, a Colorado venture firm focused on high-growth startups in the Rocky Mountain region. The round was also joined by angels including AdEspresso founder Armando Biondi, Datalogix COO Eric Kirby, and former VP of Marketing at Google Scott Epstein.

Cloud Campaign’s platform gives marketing agencies tools for social media management, automatically generates client reports and streamlines a host of marketing processes, all in a white labeled dashboard.

With this injection of capital, co-founder Ryan Born said the company is planning to add additional features in the coming months, including opportunities for paid social media campaigns and a billing solution.

The funding will also contribute to growing Cloud Campaign’s team and expanding into Boulder.

The company currently has five full-time employees, and Born hopes to more than double that number by the end of the year.

After a positive experience in Boulder’s Boomtown Accelerators, Born said Cloud Campaign will open its second U.S. office in the city to bolster the company’s tech talent.

“Once we went through Boomtown, we realized that Colorado is at a really unique crossroads with tech talent, access to capital and a strong tech community,” he said. “You have all those perfect attributes you look for in a startup community without the high costs.”

The company is planning on opening its Boulder office in June or July, where Born and the product team will sit. As they settle into the new space, Born said Cloud Campaign will be hiring for a variety of developer positions, including full-stack and front-end engineers, as well as product managers. He anticipates the Portland and Boulder teams to be about equal in size.

When considering the move, Born said Cloud Campaign saw an opportunity to tap into the growing startup scene in the Denver/Boulder area to grow the company.

“Boulder and Denver are a bit more established than Portland is and have more resources, and a bit more of a tighter knit community,” he said.
