Dayton veteran using German tech to revitalize the printing industry

Matt Van Den Beldt - 2023
“I was kind of stuck in a in a job that didn't have a didn't have a future. So I asked myself, ‘What can I do either for myself or with someone else?’ This was it,” said Matt Van Den Beldt, founder and owner of Printed Vertical.

A Dayton veteran is leveraging a piece of German technology to create a unique startup in Ohio. The local entrepreneur is one of a handful in the country with access to the tech.

Printed Vertical is utilizing a German printer for direct-to-wall or material printing. The technology’s precise calculation determines the timing of how gravity will pull the ink down onto the chosen surface, accounting for any gaps and crevices, and instantly cures the ink with UV light.

Founder and owner Matt Van Den Beldt said he hopes local entities will utilize his technology and its capabilities to further engage their audiences. From creating an engaging workplace for employees and clients to brightening schools and hospitals, he said the technology could breathe new life into the printing industry.

“There are so many possibilities with this machine – it's endless,” Van Den Beldt said. “If there's nothing in the way of this printer, it can continue to print. So like it's just an endless horizon.”

While Printed Vertical was founded in 2022, the company has really had its start in 2023, completing projects across Ohio, Kentucky and Michigan. Van Den Beldt said he is seeking to expand partnerships with local printing companies who don’t have the technology and continue to create engaging art in the area.

“I just want people to know the tech is here in Dayton,” Van Den Beldt said. “To my knowledge, there isn't anyone that has a vertical printer in any surrounding areas… It’s a new, cool technology. I do believe it’s gonna take off. I think when they’re more available and when people see the type of product they can get from this – the longevity and quality of the print – they will pick this 99 out of 100 times.”
